Diamond Buyer’s Watch of The Week – Ballon Bleu de Cartier

Ballon Bleu de CartierThere are some watches that literally stop you in their tracks with their beauty. This is how I feel about the Ballon Bleu de Cartier in Rose Gold, which is why it is my pick for watch of the week this week.  The entire Ballon Bleu collection by Cartier is gorgeous, but the 18-karat rose gold is so unique and so soft and feminine that it gives me the warm fuzzies (yes, great jewelry does that!).

The History of Cartier

Cartier was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier in Paris, France and remained a family run business until 1964.  Cartier has sold to royalty, the rich, the famous and around the world and the reason why is because the jewelry and timepieces are distinct, well made and gorgeous.

The Ballon Bleu de Cartier

IMG_7295 It was in 1888 that Cartier first introduced their first ladies bracelet watch, and this is one of their prettier ones in my opinion.  It seems as if most women prefer the Panther, but personally, I like the larger links that are on the Ballon. I also like that this watch comes in three sizes for women and comes in Quartz or Automatic.

Some of the standard features on this watch:

  • Sapphire Cabochon under a metal arch
  • Roman numerals that veer off on the face
  • Sword shaped hands
  • Guilloche dial

The Beauty of Ballon Bleu

I am a Rolex dude, because I like a “watch”.  I mean, I like a watch that I can wear. I like the heft on my wrist, but when it comes to a woman’s watch, I like the feminine and the beauty of the Ballon Bleu.  There is nothing sexier than seeing the rose gold against the skin tone of a woman’s wrist.

Cartier WatchThis watch is the epitome of class and timelessness with a bit of whimsy and a trace of creativity.  I think this is one of the better Cartier designs when it comes to their timepieces, and an investment that will keep on giving, which is why I have rated the Ballon Bleu de Cartier this weeks Diamond Buyer’s Watch of the Week.
